A downloadable mod

Four Forces builds off of the game Ludo, a simplified version of the ancient Indian game "Pachisi", where players move four playing pieces around a four-quadrant board to reach the center.  In this iteration, you will come across mystery boxes recieving the power of one of the four elements of nature (Earth, Fire, Wind & Water) that will either aid or hinder your progress along the way. Journey around the board, collect elemental powers and challenge opponents with luck and strategy to forge your path to victory!

Objective

The objective remains the same as the classic game of Ludo: move all four of your pieces around the board and reach the finishing center before others to win.

Setup

  1. Each player selects four playing pieces of the same color.
  2. Players place their pieces in their respective quadrants.
  3. Each player rolls the dice and the person with the highest number starts.

Ruleset

1: Players take turns rolling the dice and move one piece out of the starting zone only if they get a six. After getting a six they can roll again and use the numbers on the dice combined or individually for movement.

2: If a player lands on a safe zone other players cannot take them out. This can also be done by stacking 2 pieces of the same color without the need being on a safe zone.

3: If a player lands on an  mystery box , they receive a random elemental  item: Earth, Wind, Fire, or Water.

Each item has a unique ability and will be visible to others in your inventory :

  • Earth: Create a barrier; opponents cannot pass this barrier but is only affective once.
  • Wind: Move any one of your pieces forward or backward three spaces,
  • Fire: Send an opponent's piece back to their starting zone.
  • Water: Swap positions with any one opponent's piece.

4: If two players occupy the same elemental box zone, they must engage in an elemental battle.

  • The outcome of the battle is determined by a predefined  elemental hierarchy, where Water extinguishes Fire, Fire burns the Earth, Earth blocks the Wind, and Wind disperses Water.
  • The winner of the battle remains in the elemental box , while the loser returns their piece to the starting zone.

5: Similar to the rules of Ludo, landing on an opponent's piece will  take them out, sending them to the starting zone, however, in this game the use of items can give the player another chance to protect or move their piece.

6: The player must have all their pieces complete a full circle around the  board and reach the center to win.

Game Mechanics

  1. Movement: Players move their pieces according to the number they get rolling the dice when their turn comes. Movement is also influenced by players placing their piece over an opponent's to take them back to the starting zone or through battles.
  2. Inventory: By aiming for elemental boxes, players can collect powerful items for strategy and protection.
  3. Battles: When two players share a zone that has the elemental mystery box, they must battle with the random item they get. However, at this point the players do not have control.
  4. Strategy: Players strategize by using the numbers on the dice they get and elemental boxes.
